RR vs CSK Match Prediction – IPL 2021 – Match 47

The End Game is near. The Chennai Super Kings will be happy to be the first side to qualify for the playoffs, officially knocking the Sunrisers Hyderabad out of the competition. All of the eight sides have now played in 11 games each, and there are six of them that are competing for the remaining three playoff spots. With the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Delhi Capitals looking like shoe-ins, there are practically four teams fighting for the fourth remaining spot. The Rajasthan Royals are one loss away from elimination, so will need to be at the top of their game. This is who we think will win this match.

Rajasthan Royals Team Preview

No team will be as disappointed as the Rajasthan Royals considering the way things have gone in the United Arab Emirates to date. They started off the second half of the 2021 IPL on a winning note, and when it looked like they were all but set for a playoff place, they lost their way. To be fair to them, they have show bits of brilliance in the games that they have played, but those were too rare to give them favourable results.

As it stands, the Royals are in seventh place and will need some sort of miracle to qualify for the playoffs from here. Alongside their eight points, they have a really bad NRR of -0.468, which could play a big role if they are to qualify for the knockout stage.

Not only have they been chaotic out there on the field, it is safe to say that they have been erratic when it comes to their selections. They have changed their XI in almost every game they have played, and we would not be surprised if the same happens in this match too. They have a lot of talent on the bench in the shape of David Miller, and Glenn Phillips, and both might get a game this time around. Chris Morris has not lived up to his price tag, so he might be asked to sit out this next match.

The Royals have been good at times, but have not been consistent enough. While they have been pretty decent in the bowling department, they have been hot and cold when it comes to batting. In their last match, they lost the plot despite the fact that Yashasvi Jaiswal and Evin Lewis getting the side off to a flier.

Overall, they have a pretty decent side on paper, but they need to focus on their execution. With the likes of Mustafizur Rahman, Sanju Samson and Lewis in top form, they will fancy their chances. If they can get enough support from the middle order, then they stand a chance at beating th high-flying Chennai Super kings.

Chennai Super Kings Team Preview

After the terrible 2020 season that the Chennai Super Kings had, not many would have expected them to bounce back in the way that they have done. Not only have they been really good during the 2021 IPL, but they have more or less the same team as last year. Nearly all of their players have been brilliant, and this is indicated by the fact that they are sitting at the top of the table.

The Chennai Super Kings have only lost two matches to date, and they put on a really good showing in those games. With 18 points under their belt, they are already guaranteed a top two spot, but they would like to keep winning so that they take some momentum into the playoffs. Additionally, they have a NRR of +1.002, which is the best in the competition.

The main reason for their success is the fact that Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been at the top of their game at the top of the order. In their last game, this pair knocked off over half the target in next to no time. Additionally, their bowling has been very good too. The likes of Josh Hazlewood, Shardul Thakur, Dwayne Bravo, and Deepak Chahar have all bowled really well.

Even though they have been good for the most part, they also have a number of areas that they would like to improve on. For example, the likes of MS Dhoni, and Suresh Raina have been out of form and they can use this game as an opportunity to get some form back before the playoffs start.

Toss Prediction

The captain that wins the toss will likely opt to bat first. The pitches seem to be getting slower to bat on and chasing a score often seems a bit tricky. Okay, the Mumbai Indians opted to bowl first in the last match played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium and they went on to win the game, but it was definitely not plain sailing against the Punjab Kings' bowling attack. We would be surprised if the captain that wins the toss opts to bowl first.

Pitch Conditions

As can be seen from the scores in the last match, this is not an easy wicket for batsmen to bat on. The Punjab Kings scored 135 from their 20 overs, while the Mumbai Indians chased it down with an over to spare. We will expect a low-scoring affair in this match too, with the team batting first aiming for somewhere around the 150 mark.

Our Match Prediction

This is not an important game for the Chennai Super Kings since they have already qualified, but the same cannot be said for the Royal Rajasthan. The Chennai Super Kings have been a better team this far, but they might rest a few key players in this match. On the other hand, the Royals have not been at their best and have plenty to lose if things go pear-shaped in this one. Despite the fact that the CSK might rest some players, we still think they will go on to win the match.
