The 19th match of the IPL 2021 will see the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), The RCB sit in first place having won all four of their matches so far, while the CSK sit in second place with three wins from their opening four games.
What is our IPL prediction for this game? Keep reading and you will find out what we think.
IPL Team Preview: Chennai Super Kings
The CSK played the Kolkata Knight Riders in their last game and their batsmen carried on with their very good form. South Africa’s Faf du Plessis was the Man of the Match, smashing 95* from 60 balls, while Ruturaj Gaikwad hit 64 from 42 balls. Moeen Ali chipped in with a quickfire 25 from 12, while MS Dhoni added 17 runs from 8 balls.
While they will be content with the form of their batting lineup, they might have some worries over their bowling department. Sam Curran has been quite expensive this IPL, and he conceded 58 runs from his 4 overs against the KKR. Shardul Thakur also had a shocker, conceding 48 runs from 3.1 overs. We would not be too surprised at all if the CSK made some changes to their bowling attack.
With the form that the RCB have been in, they will need a close to perfect bowling performance if they are to walk away with the points.
IPL Team Preview: Royal Challengers Bangalore
The RCB have been the team to watch so far in this competition, and they have definitely shown that they have the team to go on and lift the trophy. The way that Virat Kohli (72* from 47) and Devdutt Padikkal (101* from 52) dispatched the Rajasthan Royal’s bowling attack all over the park was a sight to behold. Padikkal had a bit of a lean start to the tournament, but boy did he come to the party against the RR. Also, can we just take a moment to take our hats of to Kohli, who scored his 6000th IPL run in the last game – what an achievement that is.
Although they did not need them this time around, they still had the likes of Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers to come out to bat, which shows you the strength of their batting line up. It seems to be the case of if Kohli and Padikkal do not get you, then de Villiers and Maxwell will.
Their bowling attack can sometimes be a little bit expensive, but the key thing is that they always seem to pick up wickets. The fact that they pick up wickets despite being a touch expensive at times is important as it means that they can at least wrestle back some momentum from their opponents. The last thing a captain wants is an expensive bowling unit that are not getting wickets.
The captain that is lucky enough to win the toss is more than likely going to choose to field first as chasing has looked a bit of a struggle at the Wankhede Stadium. One of the reasons for this is that dew forms in the evening, meaning that the ball gets wet, and the bowlers struggle to grip it properly. On this pitch, the team that bats in the second innings will have an advantage.
Pitch and Conditions
The Wankhede Stadium pitch is better to bat on that the one in Chennai. If a team manages to get off to a great start and do not lose a couple of early wickets, then they can continue to bat hard through the innings and notch a formidable score. A score of around 170 is par on the Wankhede pitch, but scores of 200+ have not been rare either.
Our Chennai Super Kings v Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL Betting Tips
Both of these teams have been in fine form this tournament, and this will definitely be a great match to watch, but we feel that the CSK will not have enough to overturn the RCB. The reason we feel that this will be the case is because of the form that the RCB batsmen have been in as of late.
Also, we think the bowling attack of the RCB is a little bit better than that of the CSK. It is going to be another close match, but we are going for the RCB to be victorious. One thing is for certain though and that is if both teams click, we are going to be in for one great game.
Our betting tip: Royal Challengers Bangalore to win the 19th match of the IPL 2021.
