Our Match Prediction

The 33rd match of the 2021 IPL sees the Delhi Capitals take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad, with the former sitting on six wins out of eight and the latter sitting with a mere one win from seven games. Read on to find out our IPL prediction of who will win this match.

Delhi Capitals Team Preview

The Delhi Capitals have not been as affected by missing players as other teams have. In fact, they will welcome back the likes of Ravi Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer into their squad, potentially making them stronger than they were in the first half of the competition. The only player that they are missing is Chris Woakes, who they have replaced with Ben Dwarshius.

The Delhi Capitals have a really strong squad and we feel that they will start with pretty much the same team that they were using before the competition was postponed in May. Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan will hope to continue their form at the top of their order, while the middle order will see the talents of Rishab Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Marcus Stoinis.

Shimron Hetmeyer and Steve Smith were used during the first half of the 2021 IPL, but we think that just one of them will get a place in the starting eleven. The UAE conditions have been pretty good for pace bowling so far, and so having the likes of Avesh Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Anrick Nortje, and Ishant Sharma fighting it out for three spots is a very good place for them to be in.

No matter what department you look at, it is clear to see that the Delhi Capitals have plenty of depth in their squad. However, there is a risk that the balance will reset after the return of big players that will walking into the team.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad has one huge name missing for the second half of the 2021 IPL, and that player is Jonny Bairstow. They have replaced him with Sherfane Rutherford, and we believe that this is a really good chance since he is in very good form and will strengthen their weak middle order.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad actually dropped David Warner from their starting eleven back in May, but with Bairstow not in attendance, he will definitely be playing. A motivated Warner can win matches by himself, but he has been on a bit of a poor run of form lately.

Kedar Jadhav, Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, and most likely Rutherford, Abdul Samad and Rashid Khan will line up for them in this match. This is a long batting lineup, but they are yet to prove themselves in match conditions.

In the bowling department, Khan will be their biggest threat as he is one of the best T20 bowlers in the world. However, in order for the Sunrisers Hyderabad to win any matches, he will have to be supported by their Indian pace bowlers. The likes of Khaleel Ahmed, Vijay Shankar, Sandeep Sharma, and Bhuveneshwar Kumar were all below their best during the first half of the 2021 IPL, so their fans will be hoping that they get some form quickly.

Toss Prediction

The captain that goes ahead and wins the toss will probably decide to bat first. There is a small advantage when batting first, but the pitch surface has been pretty good and we do not think that the coin toss will have a huge say as to which team comes out on top in the match.

Pitch and Conditions

The Dubai pitch has been a little greener than expected, has a good amount of bounce, and has provided some help for pace bowlers. This will change as more matches are played on it, and we believe that it will eventually favour the batsmen. We feel that the spinners will struggle to make the type of impact they are hoping for. The team that bats first will be looking to score at least 170 runs as this is what is considered par on this wicket.

Our Match Prediction

We would put our money on the Delhi Capitals to win this match, but we do not think that it will be the walkover that many IPL fans are thinking. Overall, the Delhi Capitals have better Indian players, have more batting depth, and a bowling attack that should like the conditions quite a bit.
