The Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) took part in two fascinating IPL opening games at Chennai last week. While the MI got a dramatic win against the Kolkata Knight Riders, the SRH suffered their own dramatic collapse and lost to the Royal Challengers Bangalore. This IPL match will be played in Chennai on the 17th of April, and below you can find out who we think we go on to pick up the points.

IPL Team Preview: Mumbai Indians

MI might just have stumbled upon the best way to play on the Chennai wicket in their previous match. They batted first and made a good start as they hit their way to 152, but then it became more difficult to score in the final death overs. Their bowlers then put in a very good bowling performance in the final 5 overs of the match to secure a 10-run win for the MI. Armed with the knowledge that it is hard to score in the death overs at Chennai, we feel that MI will adapt their game and will look for a score of around 165 if they win the toss and bat first.

Rohit Sharma got some much-needed time in the middle, but there is still better to come from him, while Suryakumar Yadav was the player of the match, having hit 56 runs from 36 balls. However, the batting performances that we expect from MI have not appeared yet. Over the last few campaigns, we have gotten accustomed to seeing the likes of Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, and Krunal Pandya come out and add quick runs, but this is proving tricky to do in Chennai.

Sharma does not enjoy changing his team too much, so we expect to see the same starting XI for this match. Ishan Kishan and Quinton de Kock had a poor match last time out, but they have enough balance in their banks to cover a couple of poor showings. Their fantastic bowling attack was on show in the last match as Jasprit Bumrah, Krunal Pandya, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, and Marco Jensen did what was asked of them. If there is going to be any changes in the starting XI, then maybe Jimmy Neesham will take Jensen's place.

IPL Team Preview: Sunrisers Hyderabad

The SRH seemed to have the last match in the bag, but a dramatic collapse saw them lose and that would have hurt them a lot. The IPL is always closely fought, which means that every victory has a lot of significance. This loss is something that could come back to haunt them as we go deeper into the competition. However, in the present, they need to answer a number of vital questions. Can they afford to leave a player as good as Kane Williamson sitting on the bench? Do they have their batting order correct? Are they putting out their best bowling attack? Let us look at each question.

We do not think that Williamson is going to take Jonny Bairstow's spot after one solitary bad performance. Bairstow has been really good in Indian conditions as of late, and we think Williamson will have to sit out once again. David Warner, Jason Holder, and Rashid Khan are certainties at this moment in time. We think that they could tweak the batting lineup a bit because we do not think that Wriddhiman Saha is their best option for opening the batting. Bairstow bats at the top of the order for England, so we would move him up to an opening position and drop Saha down.

Their middle order of Holder, Abdul Samad, Manish Pandey, and Vijay Shankar can be a bit sketch, but there is definitely a lot of fire power there. Their bowling attack has done a good job so far and we do not anticipate any changes there. Holder picked up three wickets in the last match, while Khan picked up two wickets and went for just 18 runs from his 4 overs. The SRH just need to shift a couple of things around, and they will definitely have one of the better teams in the tournament.

Toss Prediction

The toss will be pretty interesting. Until now, teams have had a hard time chasing down total in Chennai and we think this will lead to the winning captain choosing to bat first. It was expected that dew would play a major part in matches at Chennai, but this has not been the case yet.

Pitch and Conditions

The conditions have been pretty tricky for batsmen. It has been best for the batsmen who face the new ball as it gets harder to hit the ball towards the end of the innings. On this pitch, a score of around 150-170 should be seen as a pretty competitive score.

Our Mumbai Indians v Sunrisers Hyderabad Betting Tips

This will be a close match, that we are sure of. Yes, the SRH have lost their first two matches, but they are always dangerous thanks to their very good bowling attack. They also have some very talented batsmen to get them the runs that they need. The MI, on the other hand, have stability and a captain that is fantastic at T20 cricket. They also have a good bowling attack, and if Sharma fails, they have others who can get the runs they need.
