It is hard to believe that we are already nearly halfway through the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. At the start of this tournament, we all expected to be treated to some quality cricket that would give us plenty to talk about with other cricket lovers and, it is fair to say, the players have not disappointed so far. The 33rd game of the IPL 2022 sees the Mumbai Indians take on the Chennai Super Kings, and below is our IPL prediction of who will win the game.

Mumbai Indians Team Preview

Before the IPL started, the Mumbai Indians were one of the favourites to go on and win the title next month. However, they have had a shocking season and, after six defeats from six, they will need a miracle to get anywhere close to making it to the Play-Offs. They sit at the foot of the table, a whole eight points off of the Play-Offs and they have a really bad Net Run Rate to boot.

In their last match, they played against the Lucknow Super Giants and lost the match by 18 runs. The MI won the toss and decided to field first, as to be expected, but they were let down by two of their bowlers. Tymal Mills, who we feel is highly overrated, went for 54 runs from just three overs, while Fabian Allen conceded 46 runs from the four overs that he bowled. So, from just seven overs, these two bowlers conceded 100 runs between them. Jaydev Unadkat was the pick of their bowlers, picking up two wickets for 32 runs from the four overs that he bowled. Jasprit Bumrah also bowled really well, conceding only 24 runs from his four overs. Once all 20 overs had been bowled, the LSG had managed to put 199 runs on the board, mostly thanks to a stunning century by KL Rahul.

When it comes down to online cricket betting, there are so many markets that you can put your money on, which is why cricket betting has become so popular among sports bettors. However, one market that we really enjoy trying to predict is the Top Bowler one. The reason why we enjoy this market is because the odds are always very good since it is not an easy wager to predict, meaning that those who get it right will walk away with a tidy profit.

So, who will be the best bowler for the MI in this match against the CSK? Well, their bowlers have been hit and miss throughout the IPL to date, but we would probably put our money on Jaydev Unadkat being their Top Bowler once again. To be honest, with their inconsistencies, we would probably avoid betting on the Top Bowler market for the MI.

With 199 to chase down, the MI knew that they would have to bat much better than they had been doing if they wanted to get their first points on the board. However, they got off to a poor start and found themselves 57/3 with just 6.2 overs gone. There was a bit of resistance from the likes of Dewald Brevis and Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 31 from 13 balls and 37 from 27 balls, but, apart from that, there was not much else to write home about. They could only manage 181 runs from their 20 overs and lost the game by 18 runs.

A fun market to look at when you are doing a spot of IPL betting is the Top Batsman market. This can be a rewarding market because the odds will always be high since a single mistake from a batsman can see him walking back to the changing rooms. A bowler can make one mistake and go and give it another go, but this is not the case when it comes to the batsmen.

So, who do we think will end up top scoring for the Mumbai Indians in this match? Well, unfortunately for the MI, many of their top batsman are out of form at the moment. Ishan Kishan was the most expensive player sold at the auction, but he has only scored 191 runs in six matches - 81 of these came in one match, so in the other five games he has scored a total of 110 runs. Rohit Sharma has performed even worse, having scored just 114 runs at an average of 19.00 from six matches. Yadav, on the other hand, has 200 runs from four games at an average of 66.67, so we suggest you put your money on him.

When it comes to changes to the playing XI, we would be mightily surprised if Mills is playing. He has been going at an economy of 11.18, which is too high, so we expect him to be dropped for this next match. We think that his replacement might come in the form of Basil Thampi.

Chennai Super Kings Team Preview

Just like the Mumbai Indians, the Chennai Super Kings were one of the favourites heading into this competition, but they have been near enough as bad as the MI. From their first six matches, they have managed to win just the one game, meaning that they now sit in 9th with just two points and a pretty poor Net Run Rate. Both of these teams will need something drastic to happen now if they are to have any chance of making it to the Play-Offs.

In their last match, they took on the Gujurat Titans and they ended up losing a close match by three wickets with just one ball to spare. The GT won the toss and opted to field first to avoid the dew, and the CSK managed to put 169 runs on the board from their 20 overs. The star of their show of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who smashed 73 runs from 48 balls, while Ambati Rayudu chipped in with a lovely 46 from 31 balls.

There are plenty of top IPL betting sites, and they all have a variety of markets that you can choose from. If you are the type of cricket bettor that likes to bet on the Top Batsman market, then who do we recommend you choose when it comes to the CSK batsmen? Well, there is one batsman from the CSK line-up that we really like the look of, and this is Shivam Dube. He has scored 226 runs at an average of 45.20 from the six matches that he has played.

With only 169 runs on the board, the CSK fans will have been hoping that their bowlers give them something to cheer, and things got off to a really great start when they reduced the GT to 16/3 after just 3.5 overs and them 87/5 after 12.4 overs. However, David Miller smashed 94 runs from 51 balls and Rashid Khan tipped in with 40 runs from 21 balls, to see their side over the line.

The pick of their bowlers was DJ Bravo, who picked up three wickets for 23 runs from his four overs. Maheesh Theekshana also bowled well, collecting two wickets for 24 runs from the four overs that he bowled. There was one bowler who had a night to forget and that was England's Chris Jordan, who we do not honestly get all the hype about. From 3.5 overs, he conceded a staggering 58 runs and had an economy rate of 15.13.

If you love to make an IPL prediction on the Top Bowler for a side, then who would we recommend you bet on out of the CSK bowlers? Well, with all that has gone before in this tournament, you would be wise to put your money on Bravo. He has bowled consistently well and is one of their best bowlers - he has picked up a total of 10 wickets in 6 matches at an average of 18.10.

Do we expect any changes to their starting XI? Well, in all honesty, we do not see how Jordan will remain in the side. He has played four matches and has conceded 135 runs at an average of 67.50, picking up just the two wickets. We think he will be dropped for this game and could be replaced by the likes of Dwaine Pretorius or Bhagath Varma.

Toss Prediction

From the 32 matches that have been played so far, the majority of them have been won by the team that won the toss and decided to field first. This is because the second half of the matches so far have been impacted by dew, making it harder for the team bowling second to grip the ball. Therefore, our toss prediction for this game is that the winning captain will decide to field first to avoid any potential dew. Bowling in dewy conditions is a big headache that no fielding captain wants.

Pitch Conditions

This match is going to take place at the DY Patil Stadium, which is a stadium where the average first innings score of the 2022 IPL has hovered around the 174 mark. The team batting second at this venue throughout the season have won 56% of the time, which is why we are sure that the winning captain at the coin toss will opt to field first. The team that bats first will look to score about 190 runs to give themselves a really good chance of winning this game.

Our Match Prediction

So, who is that we predict will win this match? Well, this is a game between two sides that are having a pretty horrendous time of things as of late, and it is yet another match that can go either way. However, when we make a match prediction today, sitting on the fence is not something that we do. So, the side that we think will win go on to win this match today is the Chennai Super Kings. Our reasoning behind this is that they have been playing better cricket than the Mumbai Indians and we think they have a stronger team.
