The 22nd match of the IPL 2021 is a top-of-the-table clash between the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Both teams have been really impressive so far in the tournament, having won four of their first five matches. Prior to this match, the DC beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) courtesy of a Super Over, while the RCB were defeated quite easily by the Chennai Super Kings. Who do we think will win this match? Read on, and all shall be revealed.
IPL Team Preview: Delhi Capitals
With four wins from five matches, you would think that the DC have got everything sorted out, but this is not the case. Kagiso Rabada has not been as good as we know he can be, Marcus Stoinis is struggling with both bat and ball, Shimron Hetmeyer has scored no runs, while Steve Smith looks rusty.
This might be because of the difficult wickets that they have been playing on, but they certainly have room to improve. Axar Patel has made his return to the team and has certainly made a difference, but some tinkering should be done if they want to get the balance right.
Amit Mishra has bowled pretty well, but we think he might be dropped for this match. However, his matchup versus AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli might be his saviour for this game. The DC have relied on Shikhar Dhawan to score the runs for them, and he has in most their matches. We believe that Sam Billings deserves to play in the starting XI and that he should play ahead of Hetmeyer, who has been in rotten form.
Avesh Khan has been pretty good with the ball, but we do not think he can lead a bowling attack for the whole IPL season. Thus, the likes of Rabada, Axar, and Ashwin will have to step up to the plate against a very good RCB batting lineup.
IPL Team Preview: Royal Challengers Bangalore
The RCB had a really bad match against the CSK as they just never really showed up. Harshel Patel picked up the unwanted record of going for the IPL’s most expensive over ever, the batting lineup collapsed, and the fielding was pretty poor. RCB had looked like the best team so far in the IPL, so this was a performance nobody expected.
One bad game does not make a bad team, though. Virat Kohli has batted quite well without being at his fluent best while Glenn Maxwell has found his mojo. We also all know how good AB de Villiers can be. However, their best batsman so far has been Devdutt Padikal, who is looking even better than he did last year.
However, like we saw in their previous matches, the RCB seems to be lacking a quality Indian batsman. Washington Sundar should not bat at three, Rajat Patidar has been a failure, meaning that Mohammad Azharudeen might be given his chance. Although, we do not think a change will be made for this match.
In the bowling department, Harshal Patel and Mohammad Siraj have been the standout bowlers. Navdeep Saini has been expensive, while Yuzvendra Chahal has not picked up as many wickets as he would have liked. Kyle Jamieson is a bowler than can be targeted by the best batsmen.
The team that is lucky enough to win the coin toss will want to field first. There will be some dew in the second innings, so the team that bats second will have a nice advantage. This is something that you need to keep in mind when you start thinking about what bets to make.
Pitch and Conditions
The weather should be good, and we expect the wickets in Ahmedabad to lead to a very entertaining game. There should be some good bounce in the surface for the batsmen, while the bowlers should get some assistance too. This stadium has big boundaries, which means that the spinners could be brought into play. We feel that the team that bats first will be aiming for a total that is somewhere in the region of 180.
Our Delhi Capitals v Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL Betting Tips
We think that the Delhi Captials will go on and win this game. The likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Rishab Pant, and Prithvi Shaw have been in really good form, and we think that they are going to enjoy the conditions that are on offer. The return of Patel has strengthened their bowling attack too. We are expecting a pretty close match with plenty of boundaries, but we think the Delhi Capitals will come out on top.
Our betting tip: Delhi Capitals to win the 22nd match of the IPL 2021.
