The Qualifier 2 of the 2021 IPL is upon us, and the Delhi Capitals will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders for the right to play the Chennai Super Kings in the final. The Delhi Capitals missed their first opportunity to qualify and now have a second bite at the cherry. On the other hand, the Kolkata Knight Riders earned the right to play in this match by beating the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator match. What is our prediction of who will go on to play in the final? Keep reading to find out.

Delhi Capitals Team Preview

The Delhi Capitals added Tom Curran to their lineup in the last match and we feel that this left that a batsman short. It will be very interesting to see if they add Sam Billings to their lineup for this vital match or whether they are happy to basically play with just five batsmen. We feel that the Delhi Capitals have been playing with an unbalanced lineup for the whole duration of the UAE.

This will be a game where spin will play a huge part and so they will be hoping that their Indian contingent can lead the way. The likes of Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishab Pant are all in pretty good form, but they might have just tapered off at a very wrong time.

The Delhi Capitals have a very good bowling attack and one poor performance should not make people forget this. Avesh Khan had a really poor game as he spent it dishing up half-volleys to the opposing batsmen. Despite that blip, the likes of Ravi Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Anrick Nortje and Axar Patel form a formidable bowling attack. They might give themselves a sixth bowling option as they have done in the majority of their matches.

Kolkatta Knight Riders Team Preview

Sunil Narine decided to turn back the clock a bit and booked the Kolkata Knight Riders' spot in the Qualifier 2 almost single-handedly. His very good form, alongside the brilliant Lockie Fergusonm and the always consistent Varun Chakravarthy gives the Kolkata Knight Riders a very good bowling attack. Also, it must be said that Shakib Al Hasan has played well in the matches that he has played in, and we think he might keep his place for this winner takes all match. Shivam Mavi, who is their second pace bowler, is their weak link and is someone that the Delhi Capitals will definitely look at targeting.

The Kolkata Knight Riders' batting lineup is in good form at the moment, but the likes of Shubman Gil, Shreyas Iyer, and Rahul Tripathi will find themselves tested by the short ball. Having the likes of Eoin Morgan, Narine, and al Hasan further down the order is something that will definitely give the Kolkata Knight Riders an advantage, especially since many are predicting a low-scoring game.

Toss Prediction

The team that manages to get lucky and win the toss will want to bowl first. This is because at the Sharjah stadium it is easier knowing the total you have to chase than trying to set a target. Also, there could be a bit of dew around in the second innings, and nobody likes to bowl with a wet ball.

Pitch Conditions

The conditions at this venue have been spin-friendly, slow, and helpful to the bowlers. This is exactly what we expect to see in this match too. The only time it has looked easy scoring runs at this venue is during the powerplay when the new ball comes onto the bat more and there are fielding restrictions in play. One betting strategy that you can think about doing is waiting until the powerplay has finished and then bet "under" whatever the projected total score is. A score of 140 will considered par in this match.

Our Match Prediction

We are going to put our money on the Kolkata Knight Riders to win this game and meet the Chennai Super Kings in the final. They have been in really good form during the second leg of the 2021 IPL and have played their last two games at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. They have three very good spinners, and we feel that their batting lineup has a lot more depth than that of the Delhi Capitals.
