We are quickly getting to the business end of the 2021 T20 World Cup and now almost every game will carry huge implications with regards to who will qualify for the semi-finals. Two of the teams have already booked their passage into the next round, and the race to claim the final two spots is becoming more intense with each passing game. The West Indies will take on Sri Lanka in a Group A match, and this article is who we predict will go on to claim the two points.

West Indies Team Preview

The West Indies started of their T20 World Cup campaign with two defeats, but they have since addressed the issues that they had and are still alive in this tournament, meaning that they have everything still to play for.

As things stands, they sit in fifth place in the table thanks to their horrendous Net Run Rate of -1.538, which is something that they will have to improve if they are going to qualify for the next round of the competition. In their last match against Bangladesh, which they won by just three runs, they changed their lineup combination and it worked for them. They decided to give Jason Holder a game, and he was vital with the bat and the ball, hitting a few massive sixes and bowling some great deliveries at the death. Dwane Brave and Andre Russell were also very good at the death.

Roston Chase was also added to the team, and they look a lot more balance when he is playing. However, having said this, their execution was still not spot on, and we think they will play better in this game. If the likes of Chris Gayle and Shimron Hetmeyer get going, which they have not done to date, they will be a tough team to beat.

Sri Lanka Team Preview

With just one win in four matches, Sri Lanka currently sit in fourth place in the table, and the best that they can achieve is third, so they are officially eliminated from the competition. They gave England a little bit of a scare in their last match, but England had too much for them in the end.

Despite the fact that they have lost three matches in a row, they will not be disappointed with how this World Cup has panned out. They have punched above their weight and have found some great talent that will be in and about the Sri Lanka set up for many years to come. The likes of Dushyanth Chameera, Lahiru Kumara, and Chamika Karunaratne have all be pretty impressive, but their star of the tournament has been Wanindu Hasaranga, who has been brilliant with both bat and ball. If you are looking for a top bowler market for Sri Lanka, then we recommend you put some money on Hasaranga.

Overall, Sri Lanka have a good team, but the fact that they are inexperienced played against them in this tournament. If they can hold their nerve against the West Indies, then there is a chance that they can beat them, making them a fantastic online cricket betting underdog to back.

Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss will more than likely opt to bowl first as the chasing teams have dominated on this surface throughout the tournament. There have been 10 matches played at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium at this competition and the chasing team have won seven of them. Thus, we will be shocked if the team that wins the coin toss will opt to bat first.

Pitch Prediction

The Abu Dhabi wickets have showed some signs of improvement in recent matches, but the average first innings score of 131 remains a little on the low side. It is not that easy to score runs on this wicket, so the team that bats first should aim for a score of about 140-150 to give themselves a fighting chance.

Our Match Prediction

Although the West Indies still have a chance to qualify for the semi-finals, albeit a slim one, while Sri Lanka are out, the latter have played better cricket than the former. These two teams are pretty equal, and the team that handles the pressure the best will come out as winners. Although we believe these two teams are equal on paper, the best cricket betting sites have the West Indies as heavy favourites to win the match. Since these teams both have the capability to win this match, we are going to chase the odds here and back Sri Lanka to win.
