The West Indies were never favoured to be successful on their tour of India, but after they way they showed off their muscles against England, albeit it a much-depleted England, they probably were not expecting such a one-sided affair in the first One Day International.

This is a short three-match series, so the men from the Caribbean will have to win the second match in order to keep the series alive. Will they manage to do so, or will the India cricket team clinch the series with a game to spare? Read our prediction of who will win.

India Team Preview

Before their match against the West Indies, India's recent ODI performances would have been something that their players and fans wanted to forget as quickly as possible. However, the India cricket team did not just shrug off those previous games, but they also learned from the mistakes they made, both with bat and ball. It is always great to see a team learn from their mistakes.

With a new captain in charge and a new bowling attack, India were on the offensive right from the very start. Prasidh Krishna and Mohammad Siraj bowled according to their strengths early on, and this meant that they were able to make some early inroads. The Washington Sundar came to the party and picked up a few quick wickets before Yuzvendra Chahal all but killed the game with three wickets in next to no time.

If you are thinking about doing some online cricket betting and want to put your money on the Top Bowler market for India, then we recommend that you look at either placing it on Chahal or Sundar. They picked up 7 wickets between them for just 79 runs on Sunday, and we expect them to cause plenty of trouble once again.

The West Indies scored 176, and India never really looked like not chasing it down. Okay, there was a slight wobble when India's fourth wicket went down, but Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav helped to calm the ship. India's new captain, Rohit Sharma was the pick of the India batsmen, scoring 60 runs off 51 balls at the top of the order, and if you are going to make a cricket match prediction for India's Top Scorer, it could be wise to put your money on Sharma.

Although India won the game quite comfortably, there are still some issues that they want to address. One of these will be improving their bowling to tailenders. They had to wait quite a long time, 15.1 overs to be precise, before they picked up the eighth wicket in the last match. They will want to be much more clinical in this next match.

India are not playing with a full-strength squad, but they still have plenty of balance in the side. We think that KL Rahul will walk back into the starting XI and his presence in the middle-order might allowed the top-order to play much more freely. It is hard to say who might lose their place to Rahul, but we think it could be Hooda.

West Indies Team Preview

The West Indies have had a bit of an up and down year so far. They lost 2-1 at home to Ireland in a series they should easily have won, but they beat England, one of the best white ball teams 3-2 in a T20I series. Although, as we said, England were missing a number of key players and gave debuts to about five players.

In this next match, they will be hoping for the same type of turnaround. They were pretty dismal in the first match, but the fact that the lower order showed a bit of fight should give them a bit of confidence. Despite this loss, they should not be too down on themselves because beating India in their own backyard is never easy. However, they will not want to use this as an excuse and will want to address their issues as soon as possible.

Asked to bat first, the West Indies were really poor as they were bowled out for a mere 176. Had it not been for both Jason Holder and Fabian Allen, their total would have been smaller. However, their bowling attack did show a lot of fight, but they just did not have a big enough target to defend.

If you are going to bet on the West Indies on your favourite cricket betting sites, then we recommend that you think about putting your money on Jason Holder to top score for his side.

They have a lack of experience at the top of the order, and this is something that they need to be wary of. Okay, they cannot really do much about this inexperience, but they should be a bit more circumspect before they go for the big shots. The majority of their team can hit the ball a long way, but they can only take advantage of this if they manage to bat out the fifty overs. They need to remember that you do not need to hit a six off every ball in order to win a match.

Toss Prediction

In total, there has been 22 ODI matches at the Narenda Modi Stadium, and 11 matches have been won by the team that batted first and 11 have been won by the team that bowled first. Therefore, the coin toss is not as vital at this stadium as it is at many others.

The average score for the team batting first here is 242, while it is 212 for the team batting second. Thus, we feel that the captain who is lucky enough to win the coin toss will decide to bat first and aim to put a score of about 300 on the board.

Pitch and Conditions

The weather forecast is set fair, and we are expecting a similar type of wicket to the first one. This means that it might be a bit sluggish, and that they batsmen need to think about their shots instead of just trying to launch every ball into the stratosphere.

Our Match Prediction

The West Indies look a bit too inexperienced, and this was the main differentiating factor between the sides in the first match. On the other hand, India seems to know what their strengths and weaknesses are and they are obviously more use to playing in such conditions. After that first win, they will be full of confidence, and we think that they will have more than enough to win this second match and claim the series with one game to spare.
