Sri Lanka's tour of India did not get off to the best of starts as they were easily beaten by India in the first T20 match of a three-match series. This defeat means that Sri Lanka need to win the second match on the 26th of February or the final match of the series, due to be played on the 27th of February, will just be a dead rubber. Will Sri Lanka manage to force a series decider, or will India blow away Sri Lanka and claim another series with a match to spare? This is our match prediction today.

India Team Preview

Under the captaincy skills of Rohit Sharma, India have been putting on some sensational performances as of late, despite the fact that some key players are missing through injury or for other reasons. They claimed a T20 series whitewash against the Kiwis and New Zealand, and they have made a really positive start to their three-match series against Sri Lanka, winning the first match by 62 runs.

India batted first in this match, and they managed to post a formidable 199, thanks mostly to a staggering 111-run opening partnership between Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Sharma hit 44 from 32 balls, but Kishan was the star of the show and smacked 89 runs from just 56 balls. While he struggled a bit in the series against the West Indies, he showed in this opening match why he was the most expensive player at the 2022 IPL Auction.

When both Sharma and Kishan were back in the hutch, there was no respite for the Sri Lankans as Shreyas Iyer strolled to the crease and smashed 57 runs from 28 balls, with a strike rate of 203.57. The pitch was a slow one and gave some assistance to the spinners, so 199 was definitely a very good total.

If you are considering doing some online cricket betting in this next match and want to bet on the top batsman for India, we would recommend that you think about putting your money on Kishan. He will have gained a lot of confidence from his knock in he first match, and we can see him causing more carnage in the second match too.

When it came to their bowling attack, all of the bowlers put in a solid shift. Sri Lanka struggled against the quality of the Indian bowling attack, and were 60/5 at the halfway stage in their innings. In other words, the game was all but gone with around 9 overs left to play still. The pick of the bowlers was Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who picked up two wickets for nine runs from the two overs that he bowled. Yuzvendra Chahal bowled really well too, conceding just 11 runs from the three overs that he bowled and picking up one wicket.

If you are going to betting at your favourite cricket betting sites and want to bet on the top bowler for the India cricket team, we would recommend you put your money on the severely talented Kumar.

When it comes to changes for the second match, we do not think that India will make any because they will not want to change a winning side while the series is not yet in the bag. If they win this second match and claim the series with a game to spare, then they can make changes in the third match.

Sri Lanka Team Preview

Overall, this was one of those games that the whole Sri Lanka team will want to put behind them and forget that it ever happened.

With a huge total on the board to chase, things could not have gotten off to a worse start for the Sri Lankans as they lost Pathum Nissanka, who was their top scorer in Australia recently, to the very first ball of the innings. Then, in the third over, Kamil Mishara was sent packing to leave his side at 15/2. Things did not get any better though, with everyone, apart from Charith Asalanka, who scored 53 from 47 balls, getting out cheaply. Their batsmen are much better than what they showed in the first game, and they will be eager to put things write in the second match on Saturday.

If you want to bet on a player to be the top scorer for Sri Lanka, we think that you should put your money on Asalanka. He showed that he is in good form in the first match, and we will not be surprised if he top scores for Sri Lanka.

With regard to the Sri Lanka bowling attack, it is fair to say that they missed the service of Wanindu Hasaranga, who has to sit out of the series because he tested positive. Their first-choice seamers, Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Kamara, and Chamika Karunaratne all went around the park. In the 12 overs that they collectively bowled, they conceded 131 runs and picked up only one wicket. If they want to have any hope of winning the second match, they will need to bowl a lot better than that.

If you are wanting to take advantage of some top cricket betting odds by betting on a bowler that you think will top score for Sri Lanka, we recommend that you think about putting your money on Chameera. Yes, he had a game to forget last time out, but he is still a quality bowler.

Despite such a poor performance with bat and ball, we do not think that the Sri Lanka management team will make any changes. We feel that they will give the players a chance to make amends for the shoddy performance they put in during the first match.

Coin Toss Prediction

Sri Lanka won the toss in the first match and put India in to bat first, probably thinking about possible dew later on in the game. Therefore, in this second match, we reckon that the captain that goes on to win the coin toss will ask their opponents to bat first. Nobody wants to field when there is dew about, so it is always best to avoid it by bowling first.

Pitch and Conditions

The weather should not interrupt this match as it is set fair, which is always good news for us cricket lovers. This match will be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, which happens to be one of the most scenic venues in the country. History states that this is not an easy pitch to score on, with the average first innings score being 140, so we think that the team that bats first will be content if they can score somewhere around 160.

Our Match Prediction

So, what is our prediction of who will win? Well, when you look at the two squads on paper and then look at what happened in the first match, it is no wonder why India are the overwhelming favourites to go on to win this match and take an unassailable lead in the series. While Sri Lanka can play a lot better than they did in the first match, can they perform well enough to beat this India team? We do not think so, which is why we would bet on India to win.

Today's match prediction: India to win.
